In creating Billy Ray McBride for the Confederate Soldiers comic series, I wanted Billy to have special abilities, but I didn't want it to be the typical abnormality a hero is born with. Purpose for everything has become a mantra for my storylines, giving the fictional aspects of each character and plotline as much credibility as possible. Thus the cause for creating a scenario of how Billy was endowed with the ability to create and project his energy plasma blasts. The result of this is Dr. Sergei Volokov, and his daughter, Natalya.
With the development of these characters, it became necessary to expand as much as possible on the how, why, and when everything took place. This is the result of that effort, culminating in The Crimson Tempest.
